Where did we go?

More than one person has asked us this question lately, via email or the forum.

We have not died and gone away. The Word Nerds does continue to live. We just have not been able to record a new show in the past three weeks or more.

The reason for this is quite simple: there is no place in my house right now where I can set up a microphone. As I mentioned in that last show (Spring Break [87A]), the bottom floor of our house is being renovated. This means it is out of commission for several more (three to four) weeks. Not only do I not have my usual recording/production area, but my family is living together in half the space (plus boxes and extra furniture) that we had before.

So no, the Word Nerds have not podfaded. Our hiatus is just taking longer than planned. Please don’t unsubscribe from our podcast feed!

Maybe you could record a quick announcement or have a guest podcast?

I think, in fact, I’ll record a quick audio announcement containing the same information in this blog post. I know that subscribers to the podcast do not necessarily check the blog site. I’ll probably have to simply speak into my laptop, just like with the very first edition I published!

Or you could do text to speech! ;-)

I check-in weekly to see if there’s anything new here. I should really use this down time to listen to my favorite episodes. :)

Dave, You’re welcome to record in the infamous Washington TravelCast Studios if you like.

I recently found your podcast and subcribed through iTunes. But it doesn’t download any of the episodes. I went to the page and tried to download them directly, but I only get as a response that they are not available. Are they or are they not available to download?

    Thanks in advance,

Marina, I honestly have no idea what is happening here, and I’m very upset about it.

I have some emails out and about to a couple of people. I also cannot download old episodes directly. There is something seriously wrong here.

Thank you very much for alerting me to this.

I miss you guys and I will wait patiently for the day when you’re back. I know what it’s like to try to carry on in half a house, and the half that’s missing is the half you work in. I’m going through two years of back episodes, awaiting your return.
